## Biography

Shintarô Nakazawa, also credited as Shintaro Nakazawa or 仲澤 慎太郎, is a Japanese animation director, episode director and storyboard artist.

He began working in anime production in the mid-2000s, serving as assistant production manager on Studio Ghibli films including *Ponyo* (2008) and later as assistant unit or episode director on *Arrietty* (2010), *From Up on Poppy Hill* (2011), *The Wind Rises* (2013), *When Marnie Was There* (2014) and *Mary and the Witch's Flower* (2017). He contributed to *The Boy and the Heron* (2023) as assistant unit director.

Nakazawa has directed episodes of television series including *Haikyu!!* (2014–2016), *Maria the Virgin Witch* (2015) and *Welcome to the Ballroom* (2017), and directed, storyboarded and episode-directed the sixth episode of the Netflix series *The Grimm Variations* (2024). He has also provided storyboards for series such as *Haikyu!!*, *Run with the Wind* and *Ranking of Kings*.
