## Biography

Shmuel Frenkel is an Israeli veteran of the 1982 Lebanon War. He served as commander of an infantry unit that included filmmaker Ari Folman. Frenkel was interviewed for the 2008 animated documentary *Waltz with Bashir*, in which he provides his own voice as himself. The film takes its title from his account of a scene in which he seized a machine gun and fired while moving through enemy fire in Beirut.
