Sid Caesar (born Isaac Sidney Caesar) was an American comic actor and writer. He rose to prominence in the early 1950s as the star of the live television variety series *Your Show of Shows* (1950–54) and its successor *Caesar’s Hour* (1954–57).

He appeared in numerous films, including *It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World* (1963), *Silent Movie* (1976), *Grease* (1978) as Coach Calhoun, *History of the World: Part I* (1981), *Grease 2* (1982), and *The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu* (1980) as Joe Capone. Caesar was born on 8 September 1922 in Yonkers, New York, and died on 12 February 2014.
