Sidney Katz was an American film and television editor. Born on 20 February 1918 in Marion County, Indiana, he died on 18 June 2009 in Los Angeles, California.

Katz began his career in the early 1950s, working as a splicer on *Citizen Kane* (1941) and later as an editor on the documentary series *See It Now*. He edited numerous feature films, including *The Swimmer* (1968), *Last Summer* (1969) and *Diary of a Mad Housewife* (1970), often in collaboration with director Frank Perry. His television credits include *The Defenders* (1961–1965) and *Kojak* (1973).

Katz received a Primetime Emmy Award in 1963 for his work on *The Defenders* and was honoured with the American Cinema Editors Career Achievement Award in 2009.
