## Biography

Sidney Levin was an American film editor. He worked as an editor and second-unit director from the 1960s to the early 2000s, with credits on more than 30 productions.

Levin edited Martin Scorsese's *Mean Streets* (1973, credited as Sid Levin) and co-edited Robert Altman's *Nashville* (1975). He maintained a long collaboration with director Martin Ritt, editing nine of his films including *Sounder* (1972), *Norma Rae* (1979), *Cross Creek* (1983), *The River* (1984) and *Murphy's Romance* (1985). Other notable editing credits include *The Front* (1976), *Nuts* (1987), *Stanley & Iris* (1990), *He Said, She Said* (1991), *Guarding Tess* (1994) and *Larger Than Life* (1996). He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for editing the television film *The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman* (1974).

Levin was a member of the American Cinema Editors.
