## Biography

Sif Ruud was a Swedish actress. Born Sif Einarsdotter Ruud on 6 May 1916 in Stockholm, she died there on 15 August 2011. She trained at the Royal Dramatic Theatre's acting school, graduating in 1937, and made her film debut the following year. She worked in several theatres before joining the ensemble at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm in 1953, where she remained a member for many years and appeared in numerous stage productions.

Ruud appeared in more than 140 films and television productions between 1938 and 2001. She is known for roles including Aunt Olga in *Wild Strawberries* (1957), Sofia in *The Magician* (1958), Elisabeth Wankel in *Face to Face* (1976), Beda Bergman in *The Best Intentions* (1992), and Mrs Krona in *Port of Call* (1948). In 1979 she received the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress for her performance in *A Walk in the Sun*.
