He was born on 1 January 1967 in Colima, Mexico, and trained at the Centro Universitario de Teatro of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He began his career in theatre in the early 1980s with the Compañía de Teatro of the University of Colima and later joined the Compañía Nacional de Teatro.
