## Biography

Simon Shepherd is an English actor. Born in Bristol in 1956, he trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Manchester Metropolitan University, and was a member of the National Youth Theatre.

He has appeared in numerous television series and films. Notable credits include *Henry V* (1989) as Duke Humphrey of Gloucester, *Wuthering Heights* (1992) as Edgar Linton, *Spice World* (1997) as a doctor, *Rogue Trader* (1999) as Peter Norris, and *Mothering Sunday* (2021) as Giles Hobday. On television he has played roles in *Agatha Christie's Poirot*, *Midsomer Murders*, *Death in Paradise*, *Father Brown* and *Alex Rider* (2020). He is also known for his long-running role as Dr Will Preston in *Peak Practice* and appearances in *Casualty*.

Shepherd has been married to costume designer Alexandra Byrne since 1980; they have four children.
