Simonetta Stefanelli is an Italian actress. She began her career as a teenager with small roles in Italian films from 1968.

She is internationally known for playing Apollonia Vitelli-Corleone in *The Godfather* (1972). Other credits include *In the Name of the Italian People* (1971), *Three Brothers* (1981) as Young Donato's wife, and *Close Friends* (1992). She retired from acting after the latter film.

Stefanelli was married to actor and director Michele Placido from 1989 to 1994; they have three children, including actress Violante Placido. She later worked as an entrepreneur and fashion designer.
