## Biography

Sol M. Wurtzel (born Solomon Max Wurtzel) was an American film producer. Born in New York City on 12 September 1890, he worked as an executive assistant to William Fox and later supervised production at the Fox Film Corporation's Hollywood studio.

Over a 34-year career at Fox and 20th Century Fox, Wurtzel produced or supervised more than 700 films, many of them B movies and series entries. He is credited as producer on *Judge Priest* (1934), directed by John Ford, and served as supervising or executive producer on films including *7th Heaven* (1927), *Bright Eyes* (1934), *Jitterbugs* (1943) and *The Big Noise* (1944). He discovered director John Ford early in the latter's career.
