Sonja Smits is a Canadian actress. Born on 8 September 1958 in the Ottawa Valley, Ontario, she studied acting at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute and began her career in theatre before moving into film and television.

She is known for her role as Bianca O'Blivion in David Cronenberg's *Videodrome* (1983), for which she received a Genie Award nomination. On television she had lead roles in the series *Street Legal* (1987–1992), *Traders* (1996–2000) and *The Eleventh Hour* (2002–2005). Other credits include *The Outer Limits* (1995), *Owning Mahowny* (2003), *Ginny & Georgia* (2021) and *Star Trek: Section 31* (2025).

Smits has received a Gemini Award for Best Actress and nominations for further Gemini and Genie Awards. She is a founding member of the ACTRA Women's Caucus and has served on the boards of Harbourfront Centre and Toronto Artscape Foundation.
