He appeared with Oliver Hardy in 107 short films, feature films and cameos. Laurel began his career in British music hall and was a member of Fred Karno's troupe, where he understudied Charlie Chaplin. He made his film debut in 1917 and teamed with Hardy from 1927, appearing exclusively with him thereafter until Hardy's death in 1957.
