## Biography

Stanford Tischler (1921–2014) was an American film and television editor and producer. He began his career as an apprentice sound effects editor at RKO Studios and received his first editing credit on the feature *The Bigamist* (1953). He went on to edit numerous television series, including episodes of *Leave It to Beaver* (1957), *Peyton Place* and *Judd for the Defense*.

Tischler is best known for his work on the CBS series *M*A*S*H* (1972–1983). He edited the pilot and remained with the show for all eleven seasons, editing 239 episodes in total. From season six he also served as associate producer. He received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Film Editing for a Series in 1976 and four Eddie Awards from the American Cinema Editors for his work on the programme. He later edited episodes of the spin-off *AfterMASH* (1983–1984).
