## Biography

Stanford Whitmore (1925–2014) was an American writer of television scripts and films. Born in Sioux City, Iowa, he published the jazz novel *Solo* in 1955 before turning to screenwriting.

He wrote the pilot episode 'Fear in a Desert City' and three further first-season episodes of the series *The Fugitive* (1963), including the flashback story 'The Girl from Little Egypt'. Other television credits include episodes of *The Wild Wild West* (1965), *McCloud* (1970) and the teleplay for the made-for-television film *The Hanged Man* (1964). His film work encompasses *War Hunt* (1962), *Hammersmith Is Out* (1972) and *Baby Blue Marine* (1976).
