## Biography

Stephen Barton is a British composer born on 17 September 1982 in Preston, Lancashire. As a child he was a chorister at Winchester Cathedral and later studied piano and composition at Wells Cathedral School on a specialist music scholarship. At 18 he became an assistant to composer Harry Gregson-Williams, working on numerous film scores before establishing his own company in 2009.

He has composed for films including *Exam* (2009), *Jennifer's Body* (2009) and *Unlocked* (2017), and for television series such as *12 Monkeys* (2015–2018) and season three of *Star Trek: Picard* (2023), where he served as primary composer. His video-game work includes scores for the *Titanfall* and *Apex Legends* series, *Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order* (2019) and its sequel *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor* (2023). Barton has won two SCL Awards and a Grammy Award, and received a BAFTA nomination.
