## Biography

Stephen H. Carter is an American production designer and art director. He is known for his work on the HBO series *Succession* (2018–2023), for which he received multiple Emmy nominations, and the film *Babygirl* (2024). His other credits as production designer include *Spotlight* (2015), *Can You Ever Forgive Me?* (2018) and *Stronger* (2017). He served as art director on *Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)* (2014) and earlier projects such as *Sex and the City*.

Raised in Georgia, Carter moved to New York to study acting and directing at NYU’s Playwrights Horizons Theater School. He shifted focus to set design during his studies and later transitioned to film and television work in the early 2000s. He has collaborated on numerous feature films and series, including *The Bourne Legacy* (2012), *Friends with Benefits* (2011) and *Kill Your Darlings* (2013).
