## Biography

Stephen Herek (born 10 November 1958) is an American film and television director. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he studied film at the University of Texas at Austin.

Herek began directing feature films in the mid-1980s. His early credits include *Critters* (1986) and *Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure* (1989). He went on to direct *Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead* (1991), *The Mighty Ducks* (1992), *The Three Musketeers* (1993), *Mr. Holland's Opus* (1995), *101 Dalmatians* (1996) and *Rock Star* (2001). Later work has included television episodes of *Hawaii Five-0* (2010) and *MacGyver* (2016), as well as several television films.
