Stephen M. Katz is an American cinematographer. Born on 10 August 1946 in Los Angeles, he is the brother of screenwriter Gloria Katz. He studied design and photography at the California Institute of the Arts and the Art Center College of Design.

Katz began working in film in the early 1970s. His credits as director of photography include *The Blues Brothers* (1980), *Gods and Monsters* (1998), *Baby Geniuses* (1999) and *I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer* (2006).
