## Biography

Stephen Segerman, also known as Stephen 'Sugar' Segerman, is a South African music writer and record store owner. He co-owns the Cape Town store Mabu Vinyl and has written about music, including co-authoring the 2015 book *Sugar Man: The Life, Death and Resurrection of Sixto Rodriguez* with Craig Bartholomew Strydom.

Segerman is best known for his role in the 2012 documentary *Searching for Sugar Man*, directed by Malik Bendjelloul. As a long-time fan of Rodriguez, he and Strydom conducted the search in the 1990s that located the musician in Detroit; Segerman appears in the film as himself and contributed to the story, including writing an article used in the production.
