## Biography

Steve Cochran (born Robert Alexander Cochran) was an American actor who appeared in film, television and on stage. Born on 25 May 1917 in Eureka, California, he attended the University of Wyoming and worked as a cowboy before developing his acting skills in summer stock and regional theatre, later moving to Broadway.

He made his film debut in the mid-1940s and is known for roles including Cliff Scully in *The Best Years of Our Lives* (1946), 'Big Ed' Somers in *White Heat* (1949), and Aldo in *Il Grido* (1957). He worked under contract with Warner Bros. in the early 1950s and later formed his own production company, Robert Alexander Productions. Cochran died on 15 June 1965 off the coast of Guatemala.
