## Biography

Steve Coombes was a British screenwriter. Born in Hull, East Yorkshire, he wrote episodes of the television series *Lovejoy* (1986) and *Vera* (2011). He created the BBC drama *Outlaws* (2004), which received a Bafta nomination.

Coombes graduated with a first-class degree in English and philosophy from the University of York and undertook postgraduate study at Warwick University. His other credits include the ITV series *Sold* (2007), the feature film *What Rats Won't Do* (1998) and the radio play *Mr Sex* (2005), which won the Richard Imison Award. He died in February 2021.
