## Biography

Steve Hickner is an American animator and director. Born in New Hampshire in 1961, he studied film production at New York University before entering the animation industry. He has worked at studios including Walt Disney Animation, Amblimation, and DreamWorks Animation.

Hickner directed *The Prince of Egypt* (1998) with Brenda Chapman and Simon Wells, for which he received a Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Animated Feature. He later directed *Bee Movie* (2007) and the short *Book of Dragons* (2011). Earlier in his career he produced *Balto* (1995) and contributed to films such as *Who Framed Roger Rabbit* (1988) and *The Little Mermaid* (1989). He has also written books on animation and teaches at Ringling College of Art and Design.
