## Biography

Steven Moffat is a Scottish television writer and producer. He studied English at the University of Glasgow and worked as a teacher before entering television. His early credits include the children's series *Press Gang* (1989–1993) and the sitcom *Coupling* (2000).

Moffat wrote episodes for the revived *Doctor Who* (2005) from 2005 onwards and served as showrunner from 2010 to 2017. He co-created and co-wrote the series *Sherlock* (2010–2017) with Mark Gatiss. He also contributed to the screenplay for *The Adventures of Tintin* (2011) and co-created *Dracula* (2020).

In the 2015 Birthday Honours he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to drama. He is married to producer Sue Vertue.
