## Biography

Steven Schachter is an American director and screenwriter of television, theatre and film. He has frequently collaborated with actor William H. Macy on made-for-television films, including co-writing and directing *The Con* (1998), *A Slight Case of Murder* (1999), *Door to Door* (2002) and *The Wool Cap* (2004).

Schachter directed the feature film *The Deal* (2008), written by and starring Macy. He wrote an episode of the series *Shameless* (2012). His earlier work includes stage direction and the television adaptation of David Mamet's *The Water Engine*. He received Primetime Emmy Awards for directing and writing *Door to Door*.
