## Biography

Stuart Craig was a British production designer. He studied at the Royal College of Art and began working in film in the 1960s, becoming a production designer in the early 1980s.

Craig received Academy Awards for art direction or production design on *Gandhi* (1982), *Dangerous Liaisons* (1988) and *The English Patient* (1996). He designed the sets for all eight *Harry Potter* films (2001–2011) and the first two *Fantastic Beasts* films (2016 and 2018), often collaborating with set decorator Stephenie McMillan. He also worked on films including *The Elephant Man* (1980), *The Mission* (1986), *Chaplin* (1992), *Shadowlands* (1993) and *Notting Hill* (1999).

Craig was appointed OBE in 2003. He died on 7 September 2025.
