## Biography

Stuart Walker (1932–2023) was a British production designer and art director. He began his career at the BBC in 1959 in Schools Television and became a senior designer in the design department by 1968, remaining there for 30 years before working freelance. His credits include the BBC television film *An Englishman Abroad* (1983), the feature film *A Private Function* (1984), the miniseries *The Camomile Lawn* (1992) and *Portrait of a Marriage* (1990), and the film *Captives* (1994).

Walker won two BAFTA Awards for production design, for *An Englishman Abroad* and *Portrait of a Marriage*, and received a further nomination for *Scarlet and Black*. He also received a Royal Television Society award for his work on the 1988 ScreenPlay film *Road*. Later in his career he taught at the National Film and Television School.
