## Biography

Susan Flannery is an American actress and director. She was born on 31 July 1939 in Jersey City, New Jersey, and studied theatre at Stephens College, earning a BFA, with further graduate work at Arizona State University.

She began her screen career in the mid-1960s with television appearances, including roles in *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea* and *The Green Hornet*. Flannery played Dr Laura Horton on the soap opera *Days of Our Lives* from 1966 to 1975, winning a Daytime Emmy Award. In 1974 she appeared as Lorrie in the disaster film *The Towering Inferno*, for which she received the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actress.

She later portrayed Leslie Stewart on *Dallas* and originated the role of Stephanie Forrester on *The Bold and the Beautiful* from 1987 until her retirement in 2018, earning three further Daytime Emmy Awards for the performance. Flannery has also directed episodes of the series.
