## Biography

Susan Froemke is an American film director, producer and editor. She began working at Maysles Films in the early 1970s.

Froemke was associate producer and one of the editors of the documentary *Grey Gardens* (1975). As a director she has made films including *LaLee's Kin: The Legacy of Cotton* (2001), co-directed with Deborah Dickson, *Wagner's Dream* (2012) and *The Opera House* (2017).

She received a Grammy Award in 2002 for *Recording the Producers – A Musical Romp with Mel Brooks* and has collaborated on other documentaries such as *Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare* (2012).
