## Biography

Suzanne Cloutier was a Canadian actress. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, on 10 July 1923, she died in Montreal on 2 December 2003.

She began her career as a model in New York before appearing on stage with Charles Laughton and joining a Comédie Française touring company. Her film roles include parts in *Temptation* (1946), *The Sinners* (1949) and *Juliette, or Key of Dreams* (1951). She is best known for playing Desdemona in Orson Welles' *Othello* (1951).

Cloutier appeared in *Doctor in the House* (1954) and *Romanoff and Juliet* (1961). She was married to the actor and writer Peter Ustinov from 1954 until their divorce in 1971.
