## Biography

Suzanne Collins (born 10 August 1962) is an American author and television writer. She is best known as the author of the young adult dystopian series *The Hunger Games*, which comprises the novels *The Hunger Games* (2008), *Catching Fire* (2009) and *Mockingjay* (2010). These were adapted into films released between 2012 and 2015; Collins wrote the screenplay for the first film. A prequel novel, *The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes* (2020), was adapted into a film in 2023, and a further novel, *Sunrise on the Reaping*, is the basis for a forthcoming film.

Collins began her career writing for children's television programmes, including *Little Bear* (1995). She is also the author of the children's fantasy series *The Underland Chronicles*.
