## Biography

Tadashi Nishimoto (also credited as Lan-Shan Ho, He Lanshan or Ho Lan-Shan) was a Japanese cinematographer. Born in Chikushino, Fukuoka in 1921, he began his career in Japan before moving to Hong Kong, where he worked extensively for the Shaw Brothers Studio from the late 1950s onwards.

He contributed to the studio's adoption of colour and widescreen techniques, including the introduction of the TohoScope system. Nishimoto shot over fifty Hong Kong films, among them *The Love Eterne* (1963), *Empress Wu Tse-Tien* (1963), *Come Drink with Me* (1966) and *The Blue and the Black* (1966). He also worked on Japanese productions such as *Ghost Story of Yotsuya* (1959).

After leaving Shaw Brothers in 1970, he continued as director of photography on films including *The Way of the Dragon* (1972) and *The Super Inframan* (1975). He later founded a company producing television commercials and died in Hong Kong in 1997.
