## Biography

Tak Fujimoto (also credited as Takashi Fujimoto) is an American cinematographer. Born in San Diego, California, he trained at the University of California, Berkeley and the London Film School. He began his career in the 1970s and became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers in 1997.

He is known for his long collaborations with directors Jonathan Demme, shooting eleven films including *The Silence of the Lambs* (1991) and *Philadelphia* (1993), John Hughes on *Ferris Bueller's Day Off* (1986) and *Pretty in Pink* (1986), and M. Night Shyamalan on *The Sixth Sense* (1999), *Signs* (2002) and *The Happening* (2008). Earlier credits include *Badlands* (1974) and second-unit work on *Star Wars* (1977). He also shot the pilot for the television series *A Gifted Man* (2011).

Fujimoto won a Primetime Emmy Award and received nominations for a BAFTA Award for *The Silence of the Lambs* and other honours. He retired after a career spanning the 1970s to the 2010s.
