## Biography

Takeo Murata was a Japanese screenwriter and director. Born in Tokyo, he began his career as a director with films including *Schoolgirl Records* (1941) before focusing on screenwriting.

He co-wrote the screenplay for *Godzilla* (1954) with Ishirō Honda, adapting a story by Shigeru Kayama. Murata contributed screenplays to other Toho productions such as *Godzilla Raids Again* (1955), *Half Human* (1955) and *Rodan* (1956). He died in 1994.
