## Biography

Takeshi Kimura, also credited as Kaoru Mabuchi, was a Japanese screenwriter who worked extensively for Toho studios on tokusatsu films. Born Kaoru Mabuchi on 4 February 1911 in Osaka Prefecture, he wrote under the pen name Takeshi Kimura from the 1950s before adopting Kaoru Mabuchi for later projects. He died on 3 May 1987.

Kimura scripted or co-scripted numerous films directed by Ishirō Honda, including *Rodan* (1956), *Matango* (1963), *Frankenstein Conquers the World* (1965), *The War of the Gargantuas* (1966), *King Kong Escapes* (1967), *Destroy All Monsters* (1968) and *Godzilla vs. Hedorah* (1971). His screenplays often featured more serious or political themes than those of his contemporary Shinichi Sekizawa. He regarded *Matango* as his finest work.
