Tala Birell, born Natalie Bierle, was a Romanian-born stage and film actress. She began her career on the European stage, appearing in Vienna and Berlin, where she made her debut in a production of the operetta *Madame Pompadour* and doubled for Marlene Dietrich in the 1928 revue *Es liegt in der Luft*.

Birell moved to the United States in the early 1930s and appeared in Hollywood films including *Crime and Punishment* (1935) as Antonya Raskolnikov, *Bringing Up Baby* (1938) as Mrs. Lehman, and *The Song of Bernadette* (1943) as Madame Leontine Bruat. She also performed on Broadway in *Order Please* (1934) and *My Dear Children* (1940).

She continued working in supporting roles through the 1940s and into television in the 1950s. Birell died on 17 February 1958 in Landstuhl, West Germany.
