## Biography

Tamás Somló (1929–1993) was a Hungarian cinematographer. Born and died in Budapest, he worked extensively in Hungarian cinema, often in collaboration with director Miklós Jancsó.

He served as director of photography on Jancsó’s *The Round-Up* (1966) and *The Red and the White* (1967), both black-and-white widescreen films noted for their long takes and landscape compositions. Somló contributed to numerous other Hungarian features and shorts across several decades, and later directed and wrote some short films.
