## Biography

Tarik Saleh is a Swedish film director, screenwriter, animator and producer. Born on 28 January 1972 in Stockholm to a Swedish mother and an Egyptian father, he began his career as a prominent graffiti artist in the late 1980s and early 1990s before working as a journalist and television host.

His feature directorial debut was the animated film *Metropia* (2009). He is best known for the Cairo trilogy of political thrillers starring Fares Fares: *The Nile Hilton Incident* (2017), which won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and Best Film at the Guldbagge Awards; *Boy from Heaven* (2022, also known as *Cairo Conspiracy*), which competed at Cannes and won Best Screenplay there; and *Eagles of the Republic* (2025). He has also directed episodes of the series *Westworld* (2018) and *Ray Donovan* (2018), and the Hollywood film *The Contractor* (2022). Saleh is a co-founder of the production company Atmo.
