## Biography

Ted Demme was an American film and television director, producer and actor. He graduated from SUNY Cortland in 1985 and began his career as a production assistant at MTV, where he produced the hip-hop programme Yo! MTV Raps and directed projects featuring comedian Denis Leary.

Demme directed two episodes of the series Homicide: Life on the Street (1993) and went on to feature films including The Ref (1994), Beautiful Girls (1996), Life (1999) and Blow (2001). He was the nephew of director Jonathan Demme.
