## Biography

Ted Lapidus, also credited as Edmond Lapidus, was a French costume designer and fashion designer. Born in Paris on 23 June 1929, he trained with Christian Dior before founding his own fashion house in 1951. He became known for introducing military and safari styles into mainstream fashion and for his work in ready-to-wear clothing.

Lapidus designed costumes for a number of films, including *Bob le Flambeur* (1956) directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, *The Crook* (1970), and *The Man Who Loved Women* (1977). He died on 29 December 2008.
