## Biography

Ted Moore (7 August 1914 – 1 July 1987) was a South African-British cinematographer. Born in Benoni, Gauteng, he moved to Britain at the age of sixteen and served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War as a cameraman in the Pinewood Military Film Unit.

He worked as a camera operator on several films before becoming a director of photography. Moore photographed seven James Bond films: *Dr. No* (1962), *From Russia with Love* (1963), *Goldfinger* (1964), *Thunderball* (1965), *Diamonds Are Forever* (1971), *Live and Let Die* (1973), and portions of *The Man with the Golden Gun* (1974). He also served as cinematographer on *A Man for All Seasons* (1966), *Clash of the Titans* (1981) and other features.

Moore won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for *A Man for All Seasons* and BAFTA Awards for Best Cinematography for that film and *From Russia with Love*. He was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.
