## Biography

Terence Hill, born Mario Girotti on 29 March 1939 in Venice, Italy, is an Italian actor, film director, screenwriter and producer. He began his career as a child actor after being discovered by director Dino Risi at a swimming meet. He made his screen debut in *Vacanze col gangster* (1951) and appeared as Count Cavriaghi in Luchino Visconti's *The Leopard* (1963), credited under his birth name.

Hill gained international recognition for his roles in spaghetti Westerns and action comedies, particularly in a long series of films alongside Bud Spencer. He adopted the stage name Terence Hill in 1967. His best-known films include *They Call Me Trinity* (1970), *Trinity Is Still My Name* (1971) and *My Name Is Nobody* (1973). From 2000 to 2022 he starred as the title character in the Italian television series *Don Matteo*.
