## Biography

Terence Morgan was an English actor who appeared in theatre, film and television. Born in Lewisham, London, he worked as a clerk at Lloyd's of London before winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After service in the army he entered repertory and the West End, where Laurence Olivier spotted him.

In 1948 Morgan joined the Old Vic Company and played Laertes opposite Olivier in the film *Hamlet*. He went on to roles in *Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.* (1951) and *The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb* (1964), often as cads or villains. He is best remembered for the title role in the ITV series *Sir Francis Drake* (1961–62) and appeared in *The Persuaders!* (1971).

Morgan married actress Georgina Jumel in 1947. He later ran a hotel in Hove and worked as a property developer.
