## Biography

Terry Hayes is an English-born Australian screenwriter, film producer and author. Born on 8 October 1951 in Sussex, England, he moved to Australia at the age of five. He began his career as a journalist before entering screenwriting.

Hayes met director George Miller while novelising the script for *Mad Max* (1979) and was subsequently hired to co-write the screenplay for *Mad Max 2* (1981). He became an in-house writer and producer for the Kennedy Miller production company, contributing to films and miniseries including *Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome* (1985), *Dead Calm* (1989) and *Bangkok Hilton* (1989). Later Hollywood credits include *Payback* (1999), *Vertical Limit* (2000) and *From Hell* (2001).

Hayes is also the author of the novel *I Am Pilgrim* (2014).
