Terry Nation (8 August 1930 – 9 March 1997) was a Welsh screenwriter and novelist. He began his career as a comedy writer for radio and television before moving into drama, contributing scripts to series including *The Saint* (1962) and *The Avengers* (1961), for which he also served as script editor on the final series.

Nation is best known for his work on *Doctor Who* (1963), writing multiple serials between 1963 and 1979 and creating the Daleks. He devised the series *Survivors* (1975) and *Blake's 7* (1978), and later wrote and produced episodes of *MacGyver* (1985) in the United States. He also contributed to *The Persuaders!* (1971).
