## Biography

Terry Saunders (1923–2011) was an American actress and singer. She began her Broadway career in 1942 with a role in the ensemble of *The Time, the Place and the Girl*, and appeared in subsequent productions including *Bloomer Girl* (1944) and *Music in the Air* (1951).

She is known for playing Lady Thiang in the 1956 film *The King and I*, a role she had earlier taken over as a replacement on Broadway. She performed the song "Something Wonderful" in both the stage and screen versions. Saunders had five other Broadway roles and guest-starred on an episode of the television series *The Danny Thomas Show* (1956).
