## Biography

Sir Terry Wogan was an Irish radio and television broadcaster who also took occasional acting and voice roles. Born Michael Terence Wogan in Limerick in 1938, he began his career in Irish broadcasting before moving to the BBC in the UK, where he presented the long-running Radio 2 breakfast programme Wake Up to Wogan and provided commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest.

On television he hosted the chat show Wogan (1982–1992) and game show Blankety Blank. His acting credits include guest appearances in *The Vicar of Dibley* (1994), *Being Human* (2009) and *Moone Boy* (2012–2015), in which he played a television host. He was appointed KBE in 2005 and died in 2016.
