## Biography

Thomas A. Walsh is a production designer whose credits include feature films, television series, IMAX documentaries and stage productions. He trained at the California Institute of the Arts, receiving a B.F.A. in theatre design in 1977 after graduating from Hollywood High School.

He served as the originating production designer on the ABC series *Desperate Housewives* (2004–2012), designing the pilot and 84 episodes, and received an Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Award for the work. Other television credits include *My So-Called Life* (1994), *Buddy Faro* (for which he won a Primetime Emmy), *In Plain Sight* and *The Client List* (2012). Film work encompasses *Vampires* (1998), *Hush* (1998), *The Handmaid's Tale* (1990) and art direction on *The Majestic* (2001).

On Broadway he designed the Tony Award-winning production of *Children of a Lesser God* and the original staging of *Zoot Suit*. He is a former president of the Art Directors Guild and a founding co-chair of its Archives and Research Library.
