## Biography

Sir Thomas Malory was an English knight and writer, best known as the author of *Le Morte d'Arthur*, the major English compilation of Arthurian legends. He completed the work while imprisoned, and it was first printed by William Caxton in 1485.

Malory is credited, uncredited, as a writer on the 1975 film *Monty Python and the Holy Grail*, which draws on the Arthurian tradition he helped shape. His book has also served as source material for other films, including *Knights of the Round Table* (1953) and *Excalibur* (1981).
