## Biography

Thomas Narcejac (born Pierre Ayraud) was a French writer of crime and suspense fiction. He collaborated with Pierre Boileau under the joint pen name Boileau-Narcejac, producing numerous novels from the early 1950s onwards.

Their novel *D'entre les morts* (1954) was adapted by Alfred Hitchcock as *Vertigo* (1958). Narcejac and Boileau also wrote the screenplay for Georges Franju's *Eyes Without a Face* (1960), based on a novel by Jean Redon. Their works were frequently adapted for film, including Henri-Georges Clouzot's *Les Diaboliques* (1955).

Narcejac trained in literature and philosophy at the Sorbonne and worked as a teacher before beginning his writing career. He continued to publish after Boileau's death in 1989.
