## Biography

Tio Hardiman is a Chicago community organiser and violence prevention strategist. He joined CeaseFire in 1999 and founded the Violence Interrupters Initiative in 2004. His work was documented in the 2011 film *The Interrupters*, directed by Steve James, in which he appears as himself.

Hardiman serves as executive director of Violence Interrupters, NFP. He has written books including *Interrupting Gun Violence: The Public Health Approach* and has appeared in other television and media discussing anti-violence initiatives.
